This Questionnaire helps me to decide what kind of audience my magazine will be aimed at and what they tend to like for the contents of the magazine.

This cover in total took around three lessons including the lesson where i was coming to terms with the different controls of the Apple Mac and Photoshop. As shown below i have used Masthead writing for the title of the magazine and i have also used one main picture. Also seeing as 'The Victorian' is a school magazine i have dated my front cover (2009-2010) so people will know how recent the magazine is. I used a variety of different tools such as the magnetic lasso tool so i could carefully cut out the image of myself but with the assistance of the computer to make things a lot easier. I also used a blending tool to give the sky in the background a more realistic affect. The picture of the school that i used was taken by myself on Mr Winn's camera, it was then uploaded onto the Apple Mac and then i could start properly on my front cover.Evaluation:

To make the front cover of my magazine I used Photoshop on an Apple Mac computer, i found it hard to come to terms with the change of computer tools on the actual screen on a Mac and i had also never used Photoshop before but i got the hang of it after a few lessons and i produced a smart looking front cover and contents page for 'The Victorian'. My front cover shares many similarities with other magazines such as Carve surf magazine (which there is a picture of previously on my blog). Both magazines have bold writing that stands out and catches the readers attention, Masthead title which again helps to draw attention and a large main picture that can often sum up the magazine in one. It is like this for many other magazines also. The readers opinion on whether to explore further into the magazine is often based on how important the feel that it is. Therefore the larger the size of the writing on a specific article the stronger chance there is that a person will read it.The choice of words on a magazine can also be related to the main subject. For example a music magazine like NME may use quite funky writing whereas a magazine such as 'The Victorian' which is what i have done will use more posh words such as excellence.

During the course of this small project i have used many different assets of technology such as high powered cameras and computers. I have developed a far greater insight into the usage of an Apple Mac and Photoshop.

Reasons why blogger is bad:
Colour clearly isn't spelt color
No spell check (that works)
No text boxes
Takes about 3 years to upload pictures
hardly ever works and when it does work it says its broken
you cant copy things onto it.
people can change your work
on my computer the editor is a different layout to the blog page
The little editing bit is far too small
Basically just does what i wants and hates me

One main picture is used for the magazine cover and all attention is drawn to the surfer riding the tube.

This Magazine uses masthead for the main title
for some reason my writing is blue and has a line under it ... kind of like a hyperlink? it wont go away aaaaaaahhhhhh

This magazine is targetted at a female audience, the audience of course consisting mainly of people between the age of 15-40. This magazine uses Masthead writing for more important information (e.g, top stories, magazine name). Also much of the writing in the magazine overlaps onto the pictures and sometimes even other writing. Shocking images are also used to draw the readers attention. Strangley enough the title of the magazine doesn't stand out the most out of all of the headings and subheadings, etc. 'Nikki' appears to stand out the most, this is because this will be what the targetted audience will most want to read about. Thus why the magazine wants people to know thats what they have information on. The main picture on the front of the magazine is also this Nikki character i assume this will also help in grasping the readers attention. Basically the more 'important' the information, the more it will stand out. Magazines will often publish things on the front cover that they feel will be most surprising/eye catching they will try to outgo other magazines in a kind of firt impression competition for who has the more interesting magazine. I have noticed that Heat magazine is much the same as many other magazines, it uses Masthead writing for the more important information, also there is one large picture that is obviously the main one (It is like this for many magazines, although this can be different for other genres of magazine, for example a magzine on aerodynamics may have many smaller pictures and may also have smaller information with no masthead, etc, because it is directed at a different audience). Along with many other magazines Heat makes the price of the magazine hard to find or very small so people will find it easier to ignore it and be drawn in by the awful and uninteresting information. :)
